We are proud to announce the final presentation for our current cohort of residents—Zenas Ubere and Prince “Uhuoma” Charles. To cap off their fruitful research-based residency with Angels and Muse, the pair will present works that interrogate photography’s relationship with themes such as existentialism and identity in an exhibition entitled “Behind the Pose.”
Charles will present a series of self-portraits that were made during his residency. Ubere will, in turn, read excerpts from his incipient book which centers on African portrait photographers and how, in their hands, portraiture becomes a tool for dispelling stereotypes and portraying Africans in all their fullness.
