Black Muse Review is a forthcoming publication by Angels and Muse, conceived as a platform for critical thought, reflection, and dialogue on contemporary African art, literature, design, and culture. Emerging from the ethos of Angels and Muse as a space of creativity, experimentation, and intellectual exchange, the Review extends its mission into print and digital form, offering a forum where urgent questions of art, heritage, and society can be explored.
The publication will feature essays, reviews, interviews, fiction, poetry, and visual contributions from emerging and established voices across Africa and its diaspora. By centering African perspectives, Black Muse Review seeks to amplify the multiplicity of ideas shaping creative practices on the continent today—while situating them within global conversations. Each issue will be thematically curated, providing a framework for rigorous engagement while leaving space for imaginative interpretation and experimentation.
As a critical journal, Black Muse Review will serve as both archive and catalyst: documenting the practices of contemporary artists, writers, and designers while inspiring new modes of thinking and making. In doing so, it reaffirms the role of art and culture as vital tools of recovery, restoration, and reimagination for Africa’s present and future.
