Discover the rich intersection of visual cultures at the final presentation of our 2024/2025 research-based residency. Featuring Ife Adegbie’s study on West African signage and transportation art and Aisha Aliyu-Bima’s exploration of aesthetics in northern Nigerian arts through the lens of Festac ‘77, this event highlights the dynamic narratives shaping cultural identities.

This Intensive will offer an opportunity to curators working within contemporary African art and based anywhere in the world to learn from seasoned curators. Organized as a 3-day virtual event, it is intended to provide emerging curators with the intellectual and administrative toolkit required to produce and critique exhibitions.

This film centers on Nobel Prize winner and Nigerian playwright Wole Soyinka’s campus home on Ebrohimie Road, University of Ibadan in Nigeria. Through compelling stories, visuals, and historical records, Túbọ̀sún uncovers the rich history of Ebrohimie Road as more than just a campus street – a place of history and a museum of memory.

This is a unique opportunity for visual artists to engage with our founder on the workings of the art world. His unique perspective as a globally acclaimed artist positions him to offer seasoned ideas on how to succeed both critically and financially as a studio artist.

The Curatorial Roundtable will feature three leading Lagos-based curators, working within Nigerian art institutions, and pioneering a new outlook on arts engagement in the region. They will discuss their cutting-edge work, inspiring the next generation of curators, and offering workable ideas for curatorial excellence in the blossoming visual arts scene.

Our event series with writers will bring together two writers, whose recent books help shape an understanding of Nigerian or African life. Presented as a conversation, the event will include readings by the authors, as well as a deepened consideration of a theme found in both books.
